LEGOLAND New York: Planning Your LEGOLAND Hotel Stay
We recently stayed at the brand spanking new LEGOLAND Hotel in Goshen, New York, and our package included tickets to LEGOLAND theme park for 2 days! The best place to start researching and planning for a stay at LEGOLAND Hotel New York is on the official LEGOLAND New York Resort website: https://www.legoland.com/new-york.
General Booking Tips & Info
As with all trips, we recommend that, as soon as you know you want to go, book your hotel stay. We would’ve booked even earlier if it were available for booking, but being a new hotel that had its construction and opening delayed due to the global public health crisis and shutdown from 2020 through 2021, the hotel wasn’t yet available for booking when we first looked. That said, as soon as we learned that it became available, we booked. We booked our stay on June 27, 2021 for our 2-night stay from August 6, 2021 to August 8, 2021. Very soon thereafter, rooms for that weekend were sold out.
It should be noted that unlike most hotels we have booked, we were charged for the entire payment for our hotel stay at the time of booking. We are accustomed to booking hotels with either no money down or a minimal deposit, and to not being charged for the hotel until check-in. The payment policy displayed during booking on the website clearly states: “Full payment of total reservation amount is due at time of booking. Once payment is received, room rates are guaranteed unless modified. LEGOLAND Vacations reserves the right to cancel reservations due to lack of valid credit card and/or deposit.”
We are also accustomed to a cancellation window of anywhere between 24 hours to one week prior to our stay, and this was somewhat similar in that LEGOLAND New York guests are offered a travel protection plan that will allow guests to cancel or change dates up to 5 days prior to arrival. If guests decline, then per the booking website, no changes, cancellations, or refunds are allowed.
Planning Your Hotel Stay & Park Days
After booking a vacation package, you’ll get your booking confirmation email, and you’ll also get your vouchers via email. We downloaded and printed our vouchers, which we used for entry to the theme park. Each guest will have a separate voucher that needs to be scanned at the entrance to the theme park. We received a check-in email 2 days prior to our scheduled check-in date, and in that email, it informed us that we could check in online as of the date of that email, and if we did this, then on our scheduled check-in date, we could arrive early, drop our bags at the hotel, and head straight to the park to start our fun! I was super happy to receive this because our stay was scheduled from Friday to Sunday. With check-in listed as 4:00 PM, we had initially planned to check-in on Friday afternoon and simply stay at the hotel that evening, then go to the park on Saturday and Sunday, which would mean driving home after a full park day on Sunday. However, it worked out much better to arrive early for the park on Friday, then go to the hotel, and then enjoy a full day at the park on Saturday with a relaxing Saturday night into Sunday morning, so we could be relaxed for our drive home after check-out at 11:00 AM on Sunday.
The Cost
In addition to including tickets to LEGOLAND theme park for 2 days, our stay at LEGOLAND Hotel New York also included a free breakfast buffet at Bricks Family Restaurant located in the hotel’s main lobby. The price of our vacation package was $1782.95, and with the addition of sales and occupancy taxes, the total price for our vacation package for a family of 5 (3 adults & 2 children) was $1942.64. With all that was included, and the fact that this is a brand spanking new hotel at which we were staying on opening weekend in the summer, I think the price is fair. At the time of this writing, one-day park admission is $79.99 per person when purchased in advance, so 2 days of park tickets at that price, for our family, would’ve been about $800. Additionally, LEGOLAND Hotel guests easily walk to the theme park both days without needing to factor in transportation costs - whether that be gas, care rental, etc. - each day. Add to that the average cost of breakfast for a family of 5 for 2 days, which could easily bring the total to $1000 or more. We already know that the total tax was $159.69. That means the additional approximate $700-$800 would be for the hotel itself during its official opening in the summer. Would we say it’s worth it? Yes! Here’s why - check out “LEGOLAND New York: LEGOLAND Hotel Experience”!
So happy we stayed at the LEGOLAND Hotel on-site! It truly is the most convenient and fun for a visit to LEGOLAND NY’s theme park! Although we previewed the park in May 2021, that experience - although good - pales in comparison to our more recent 2-night stay at LEGOLAND! We highly recommend checking it out for yourself, and, while you’re at it, let us know how it goes!
